The Commercial Department is truly the cosmopolitan division of the High School. It is here that the graduates of all the schools meet and work side by side to gain the education necessary to fit them to earn an independent livelihood. Anyone who has gone far enough in the public schools to understand the course is eligible to the classes.Mr. Boutwell, who came all the way from Laurel, Miss., to pilot this particular class, has brought us to the very threshold of the business world. He has been a most faithful and untiring guide, has left nothing unexplained, and all we now lack is experience.
We work together for such a short time - just nine brief months - that ours can hardly be called a history. It is not the Past that seems to big to us now, it is the Future! Will we get our certificates after our course is completed? Will we be able to secure desirable positions? How will we ever live though our first day in a business office. These and almost a million other questions loom up before us as unsolvable problems which, if all taken together, would be "Will We Make Good?"
