Dr. Prospero DeMarco, well known local Pharmacist and optometrist and highly esteemed citizen died suddenly on Monday morning. His sudden passing came as a great shock to the members of his family and numerous friends. Dr. DeMarco was born six miles East of Natchez, Miss., on November 3, 1892, being the son of the late Raphael DeMarco and Mrs. Laura Morris DeMarco. He attended the Cathedral Commercial School in Natchez and began the study of pharmacy in 1909 while working in a local drug store. He passed the State Board and received his license to practice April 7, 1914. He immediately enrolled for a course in Optometry with Philadelphia Optical College, receiving his degree in February 1916. He practiced Pharmacy and Optometry in Louisville, Miss., for a short time and then returned to Natchez where he has resided since. In more recent years, Dr. DrMarco devoted the major portion of his time to Optometry, turning over the operation of the Pharmacy to P. L. DeMarco, his son, prominent local registered pharmacist. Dr. DeMarco was a charter member and past president of the Mississippi Optometric Association. He served for ten years on the State Board of Optometry, holding the important offices of President and Secretary for a number of years. He was a charter, life and active member of the National Association of Retail Optometric Foundation; member of the American Optometric Association; member of the OEP for twenty seven consecutive years; member of the Mississippi Pharmaceutical Association and the Druggists. He was a charter member of the Natchez Kiwanis Club; charter member of the Toastmasters Club and charter member of the Natchez Country Club. Other activities included: Past Master of Andrew Jackson Lodge No. 2 F and A M; Past President of Adams County TB Association and at the time of his death was vice chairman of the Adams County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Estelle McIntoish DeMarco, two daughters, Mrs. Smiley Anders, Baton Rouge, La., and Mrs. Elbert Gallagher, Fresno, Cal., one son P. L. DeMarco, Natchez, one step-daughter, Mrs. Natale Salvo, Jackson, Miss., two sisters, Mrs. George Long, Natchez, Miss. and Mrs. Golman Britton, Macon, Miss., and four grandchildren. The body will be at the residence 131 Auburn Avenue until the time of the funeral services which will be at nine o'clock Wednesday morning from Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Louis O'Vander Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the city cemetery with Foster's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers. Active. C. M. Schneidau, Pall Mann, Paul Myers, Warren Womack, D. Y. Williams, Paul Doherty, Abe Geisenberger, H. K. Hutton. Honorary. Members of Mississippi Optometric Association and members of Mississippi Pharmaceutical Association.

Funeral Services for Dr. Raphael DeMarco, well known ans successful businessman and outstanding citizen of this comunity, will be held from St. Mary's Cathedral at nine o'clock mass this morning. The death of Dr. DeMarco who was one of the outstanding druggists and optomertists of the satate is widely mourned throughout the nearby sections of Louisiania and Mississippi as well as Natchez. Following the funeral services at the Cathedral this morning interment will be made in the family plot in the City Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pall bearers: Active: Fred Schleet, Paul Simmons, Roy Gadbois, David Deterly, Abe Geisenberger, Joe Gerache, B. P. Wood and Lennie Schuchs. Honorary: W. J.
