Mr. Fixins of the C.C. was
discovered this morning in a critical condition. His disease is said
by his physicians to be one long known in China, and introduced into this
country only during the last 90 years. The Chinese call it Egg-nog.
And Chin Chum, one of the most eminent of the disciples of Confucius, in
his great work the Ve Vill Notgome, says that when it runs a long
time, it is fatal.

Old Mrs. Muggins had a fit
this morning. It is not known whether it was a fit of gout or a fit
of spleen - but it is generally supposed that her dress maker had something
to do with it.
