RATCLIFFE, DR. HALL H.
OBITUARY - - - Dr. Hall Holloway Ratcliffe,
Sr. 69, pioneer doctor of Ferriday, died at the Concordia Parish hospital
in Ferriday Friday [Jan. 22, 1971] after a lengthy illness. Funeral services
were held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Youngs Funeral Home in Ferriday
with the Rev. Louis O'Vander Thomas, Episcopal rector of Natchez, officiating.
Burial was in the Natchez City Cemetery. Young's Funeral Home was in charge
of services. Dr. Ratcliffe was born on December 6, 1901 at Natchez and
attended grade and high school there. In 1924 he graduated from the University
of Virginia Medical School, and in 1927 began the practice of medicine
in Ferriday. He was owner and director of Ferriday Hospital from 1927 to
1964. During World War II he served as a colonel in the U.S. Army Medical
Corps and received a Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of the Louisiana
medical Society, the American Medical Association, and was a fellow of
the American College of Surgeons. He was appointed as the first chief of
staff of the Concordia Parish Hospital in 1964, and he retired from medical
practice in January, 1965. Survivors include a son, Dr. Hall H. Ratcliffe,
Jr. of Natchez, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Pelham Duke of Natchez; five grandchildren,
four great grandchildren, and a brother, Martin Ratcliffe of Natchez. Pallbearers
were William Feltus, III, Charles DuPre, S. H. Calvert, Jr., W. Howard
Pritchart, Lucius Butts, Jr., Martin Ratcliffe, Jr., Dr. H. V. Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers were all members of the medical staff of the Concordia
Parish Hospital. The family requested that memorials be sent to Trinity
Episcopal Day School in Natchez or the Huntington School in Ferriday.

62, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 31, 1993, at Natchez Regional Medical
Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at Trinity Episcopal Church
in Natchez with the Revs. Eugene Kohlbecker and Harry Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral
Home in Natchez. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Ratcliffe
residence. He was born April 24, 1931, in Ferriday, La., the son of the
late Dr. Hall Holloway and Mary Louise Richardson Ratcliff. He was preceded
in death by a son Douglas Middleton Lambdin, and a sister, Mary Pelham
Ratcliffe Duke. Dr. Ratcliffe was a retired physician and a member of the
American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons and the
Southeastern Surgical Congress. He was a communicant of the Trinity Episcopal
Church. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and a member of
Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He graduated from LSU Medical School and
was a member of Nu Sigma Medical Fraternity. Survivors include his wife
Mattie Jo Simmons Ratcliffe of Natchez; three sons, Dr. S. H. Jeff Lambdin
of Greenwood, Clark Henderson Lambdin and Hall H. Ratcliffe III, both of
Jackson; two daughters, Cabell Richardson Ratcliffe of New Orleans and
Karen Lambdin Boyle of Waycross, Ga., eight grandchildren, a nephew, Douglas
Ratcliffe Duke of Jackson; and a niece Mel Duke Ford of Huntsville, Ala.
Pallbearers are Hal Hicks, Simmons Hicks, Donald Hicks, William McGehee,
Kenneth Jones, W. Samuel Perkins, Hyde D. Jenkins and Dr. Robert H. Barnes.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Barry Tillman, Dr. John Coffey, Dr. Bruce
Kuehnle, Dr. Mallam Morgan, Dr. Walter Colbert, William Statter and Harold
F. Hicks. The family requests memorials be made to a favorite charity.

Home. Funeral Services will be held for Dr. John Sebastian Ruoff, 79 who
died here Sunday, at three-thirty p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home. Following
Catholic Rites, interment at the Natchez City Cemetery, the interment will
be private. Dr. Ruoff was born in Natchez on August 15, 1889, the son of
the late J. S. and Anacelta Ruoff. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral,
attended the local Catholic schools and was a graduate of Tulane University,
health director of the Adams County Health Department for ten years, commissioned
in the United States Public Health Service and a member of Trudeau Society
of Saranac Lake, New York. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Maude
Kempe Ruoff of Natchez, one son John Kempe Ruoff of Greenwood, S. C., one
granddaughter Leslie Kempe Ruoff of Greenwood, two sisters, Mrs. John G.
Gains of Kansas City, Kansas, Miss Louise Ruoff of Chicago, Ill., A number
of nieces and nephews also survive.

Capt. Thomas Henry Radigan
OBITUARY: Natchez Democrat Newspaper, Saturday December 22, 1962
Capt. Thomas H. Radigan, 80, passed away Friday afternoon at 5:15 p.m.
at a local hospital. He
was a native of Jackson, having been born there July 25, 1882, the
son of the late Edward and
Mary Halfond Radigan. Sapt. Radigan spent most of his life in Natchez
and Adams County and
had been a Captain on the Mississippi river for thirty-six years. He
was also engaged in the hotel
business in Natchez for 23 years. Capt. Radigan made his home here
with his sister-in-law, Mrs.
Louis E. Licata, on High Street. He had retired from active business
and public life several years
ago. He served as a member of the board of aldermen of Natchez for
several times, was mayor
pro-tem and served on several important committees. He was a communicant
of St. Mary's
Cathedral and a member of the Knights of Columbus. A rosary will be
recited at the chapel of
Laird Funeral Home at ten a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held
from St. Mary's Cathedral
at four p.m. Saturday with interment to follow in the family plot of
the Natchez City Cemetery.
Named as pall bearers are Charles Eidt, O. C. Montgomery, Randall Ferguson,
Willie Freeze,
Curtis Cullins, Robert Mulvihill.

Charles
E. Rawes, who was killed at Townsville, Australia on April 14, 1943
will be held at two o'clock
this afternoon from Fosters Funeral Home. The remains of Technician
Rawes will arrive in
Natchez at eleven o'clock this morning and will be taken to Foster's
Funeral Home where he will
remain until time for the funeral services. Elder V. W. Collins of
the Natchez Seventh Day
Adventist Church will conduct the services. Technician Rawes is the
son of Mrs. Willie Green
Rawes and the late William A. Rawes of Natchez. He is also survived
by three sisters, one
brother and a daughter, Ann Rawes of Los Angeles, Cal. Pall bearers

Mrs. John Rouff dies in Chicago Services Today. Funeral services for
Mrs. John Ruoff, Sr., who
died in Chicago, Ill., on Tuesday will be held at two o'clock this
(Thursday) afternoon from St.
Mary's Cathedral. Mrs. Ruoff was a native of Natchez and was the mother
of Dr. John S. Ruoff,
director of the Adams County Health Department. In addition to Dr.
Ruoff, she is survived by
three daughters, Mrs. John G. Gains, Kansas City, Mo., Miss Alice Ruoff
and Miss Louise
Ruoff, both of Chicago, Ill, five grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The body of Mrs. Ruoff will
arrive at Fosters Funeral Home this morning and will remain there until
the time of the funeral.
Following the services at the Cathedral, interment will be made in
the Natchez City Cemetery.
