John Wiley was the son of Andrew Jackson Wiley and Nancy Avelena Tackett. John was born 27 August 1853 At River, Kentucky, and married Amanda Brown on 5 June 1873 in Johnson County, Kentucky. Amanda was the daughter of Daniel K. and Mary "Polly" Fannin Brown. John was a member of the United Baptist Church for 61 years, and Amanda for 45 years. This couple lived at Whitehouse, Kentucky, and produced 15 children, six of which died in infancy. John died 5 December 1938 at Paintsville, Kentucky, and Amanda died 3 December 1934 at Whitehouse, Kentucky.Many thanks to Madge Jennings for this excellent photo, and to Appalachia Crossroads for the information.
