McCabe Family Description

Owen McCabe, born in 1797 in Ireland, his wife Ellen, and at least two sons, Felix and John, immigrated to the US prior to 1850. They settled in Holyoke, Hampden Co, MA. Owen was a widower when he died, in Holyoke, in 1869.

Owen's son, Felix McCabe, married twice, first to Catherine CAHIL.  They had at least five children.

Felix's second wife was Sarah Gallagher. Sarah was born in Scotland in 1852, the daughter of Scotland-born John Gallagher, and Ireland-born Sarah, last name unknown. The Gallagher family immigrated to the US before 1860, and settled in Holyoke, Hampden Co, MA.

Felix McCabe's occupation has been listed in several ways, everything from a merchant to  an undertaker.  He died of Bright's Disease (kidney disease) in 1885, in Holyoke.

 

 

Felix and Sarah had at least one daughter, Agnes C. McCabe, who was born in Holyoke in 1877. Sometime after 1880, Agnes moved to NYC, where she met and married William Shroh.

He married Catherine CAHIL in ABT 1851.  Catherine CAHIL was born in 1836 in Leeds, England.

She married William SHROH on 17 Apr 1900 in 317 E. 118th St, NYC.  William SHROH was born in 1861 in New York City, NY; died in ABT 1915.

He married Mary A. SULLIVAN on 8 Jul 1874 in Holyoke, Hampden Co, MA.  Mary A. SULLIVAN was born in ABT 1858 in Greenfield, MA.
 

10. Felix M. MCCABE was born in ABT 1860 in MA.

He married Catherine SHEA on 13 Apr 1880 in Holyoke, Hampden Co, MA.  Catherine SHEA was born in ABT 1859.
