The Barthlomew Pack Line

        The immigrant ancestor was Bartholomew Ponsonby PACK born abt.1811 in Ireland, died 21 January 1890 in New York, NY . (Source: Death Certificate #3908, NYC).  He married Jane SALISBURY,  (born abt. 1817 in Ireland, died 1901 in NYC), and they and their children left Ireland for NY in 1860.  (Source: 1860 & 1870 Census)

         His father was  Rev. Bartholomew PACK, born abt. 1770 in County
Carlow, Leinster, Ireland; (Source:  Burtchaeli & Sadleir, Ed., Alumni
Dublinenses: A Register of the Students, Graduates, Professors and Provosts of Trinity College in the University of Dublin (1593-1860),  Dublin, Alex.  Thom & Co., Ltd., 2 Crow Street, 1935, New Edition, p.649, "Jan. 27, 1787, aged 17,  b. Co. Carlow, son of Richard, Clericus"), died 1849, married Barbara HARTY of St. Mary's Parish, Kilkenny, Ireland on 18 July 1800.  Rev. PACK received his B.A. from Trinity College in 1791, his M.A. in 1823. His eldest  daughter,  Anne Catherine Pack, born 1800-1805; died  23 May 1866.  She married George Washington BRAZIER-CREAGH  of Creagh Castle, Doneraile, Co. Cork 31 July 1822.        Rev. Bartholomew PACK was the son of Rev. Richard PACK and Mary PERCY of Ballintemple, King's Co., Ireland. Rev. Richard PACK was born abt. 1734 in Kilkenny, Ireland  and died March 1781. He received his BA from Trinity College in 1752, his M.A. in 1773, and an L.L.D. in 1774. He was Treasurer of Leighlin Cathedral, 1771-81, and  Principal of Kilkenny College. His children were:

           Rev. Richard PACK was one of three sons of Thomas PACK  (?-1758),
    Merchant, of  Ballinakill, Queens Co. [Laois],  Ireland , who married a Miss
    KILEY or KELLY.   His brothers were:
          (1) Rev. Thomas PACK, Dean of Ossory, born abt. 1720 in Queens County, [Laois], Ireland; died 26 May 1795 in Kilkenny, Ireland, md. 14 March 1766 Catherine, dau. and heiress  of Denis SULLIVAN , Esq. of Castledown, Berehaven. He had issue: Thomas PACK (1769-1786);
    Catherine Anne PACK,  (1772- 1844); Anne PACK (1773-1795); Maj. Gen. Sir Denis PACK , K.C.B., born 07 October 1775 in Kilkenny, Ireland; died 24 July 1823 in Wimpole Street, London, UK.
          (2) Samuel PACK of Dublin, md. Jane CADDELL. He had issue: Samuel PACK, H.E.I.C.S. (Hon. East India Company's Servant), born Abt. 1757 in Dublin, Ireland; Jane, md. James LEA , Esq.; Eleanor, md.     Miss Kiley. Brother of the Rev. Richard Pack (1734-81) and of Samuel Pack.
    Born Queen's Co. Married Catherine Sullivan of St. Andrew's parish Dublin.
    Vicar of Burnchurch, Dean of Ossory.
    Children: Thomas (1769-1786); Catherine Anne (1773-1844); Anne
    (1774-1795); Denis [Sir Denis as of Jan 1815] (1775-1823)
    [Other sources have Denis born in 1772 - his monument agrees with this.
    Details about his children (Arthur John Reynall-Pack, Denis William
    Pack-Beresford, Anne Elizabeth & Elizabeth Catherine) are available, I'm
    told, in Burke's Landed Gentry.]

     2) Richard PACK (1734-81)
      Brother of Thomas (1) and Samuel (3). Born Kilkenny. Married Mary Percy.
    Treasurer of Leighlin Cathedral, Master of Ormonde School [today's Kilkenny
    College.]
    Children: 7 sons & 3 daughters, including Thomas (1757-1791); Anthony (1759-
    1842); Bartholomew (1770-1849).

      3) Samuel PACK (after 1720-?)
       Younger brother of Thomas (1), brother of Richard (2).
    Children: His daughters, Jane Lea, Eleanor Pack, & Mary Tucker are left
    legacies in Thomas's will, dated 18 June 1793.
    [Another source says that he emigrated to America. A Samuel Pack,
    listed as "s. of Samuel," born in Dublin, entered Trinity College in
    1774 at age 17.]
