Family Description
John Shroh was born in Bavaria,
Germany in 1826, and immigrated to the US before 1850. He married Catherine
WEINER, born in 1832, in Bavaria, Germany. He was probably married when
he immigrated. The couple settled in NYC, where John worked as a cartman.
John and Catherine had seven
children. One son, William Shroh, born in 1861 in NYC, married Agnes C.
McCabe, from Holyoke, Hampden Co, MA.

Shroh had one son, William Shroh, Jr., who, in about 1920, changed his
name to William Charles Allen. William Allen became joined the Merchant
Marines, and became a Master of Mates. He died in 1957.
