How to Become A Member

    The General Nathan Bedford Forrest Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy® would like to invite all eligible descendants currently residing in the state of Indiana to apply for membership. We will be happy to work with you and assist in any way we can throughout the application process.

    Eligibility-

    Those eligible for Active Membership are women over 16 years of age who are lineal or collateral descendants of men and women who served honorably in the Army, Navy, or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America, or gave material aid to the Cause. Likewise, women who are lineal descendants of members or former members shall be eligible.

    Proof of Descendancy -

    Applicants shall furnish certified proof of relationship to a Confederate Veteran, and the application shall bear the endorsement of two (2) Chapter members to whom the applicant is personally known. Proof shall be obtained from sources established by the United Daughters of the Confederacy as printed on the application form.

    No applicant  whose ancestor took the Oath of Allegiance prior to April 9, 1865 shall be considered eligible.
