CEMETERY HAS A BRICK WALL AROUND IT; BROKEN IN SEVERAL PLACES. IN A BEAUTIFUL SPOT SURROUNDED BY OAK TREES. IN GOOD SHAPE FOR AN OLD CEMETERY. ABOUT THREE MILES FROM PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT PINE RIDGE ON A ROAD LEADING THROUGH FROM PINE RIDGE TO SELMA. IT IS ABOUT HALF MILE OFF THE ROAD AND ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE GOING FROM SELMA TO PINE RIDGE.

THIS CEMETERY IS LOCATED ON BEAUTIFUL CHERRY GROVE PLANTATION. OFF HIGHWAY 61, ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN KINGSTON ROAD.

CEMETERY IS VERY WELL KEPT. HAS BLACK IRON FENCE AROUND IT WITH NAME SURGET AB. ANNO 1792 ON IRON GATE. ALL FENCE AND STONES ARE INTACT AND KEPT UP BY MRS. GRACE McNEIL

ORIGINAL SURGET HOME, BUILT ON LANDS OBTAINED FROM INDIANS. 


CHINA VILLA CEMETERY

ALL THAT REMAINS OF THE CHINA VILLA CEMETERY IS A BRICK VAULT WITH NO INSCRIPTIONS. BODIES WERE REMOVED FROM THIS VAULT WHEN THE SLAVES WERE FREED AND BURIED IN THE CITY CEMETERY IN NATCHEZ. MISS. THIS VAULT IS LOCATED ON CHINA VILLA PLANTATION SIX MILES FROM NATCHEZ ON THE LIBERTY ROAD.
