    Mary SHEPHERD Was in Galveston visiting relatives with her one
    year old daughter, Margaret Velma Shepherd, when the storm hit.  My
    grandfather brought back the body of a woman and child to be buried on the
    family site in memory of the wife and child he lost.  I have the original
    copy of the condolence letter from the Order of the Eastern Star ( of which
    she had been Worthy Matron and held other offices) to my grandfather
